TAHAI BrowserNative Chromium rebuild

Updated August 2, 2026

Development status

Native Chromium rebuild.

Engineering has completed through NATIVE038 — Privacy and Local Data Inventory. Work is moving into NATIVE039 while final runtime and release claims remain blocked.

Project direction

A fully native Chromium desktop browser.

The legacy Electron browser remains a reference source for approved concepts, branding, Mission Control workflows, recipes, tools, schemas, and user-facing content. It is no longer the architectural foundation.

Native generationChromium desktop architecture

Native windows, profiles, tabs, WebContents, storage, permissions, downloads, DevTools, session restore, and physical input handling.

Legacy generationReference source only

Approved product concepts may carry forward, but Electron packaging and runtime architecture do not.

Current enterprise and security work

Policy, privacy, and privileged boundaries.

The work completed through NATIVE038 is source-side engineering and verification scaffolding. It is not a headed native runtime or release claim.

Managed governance

  • Managed policy framework
  • Windows Registry and GPO scaffolding
  • Profile-scoped feature-service rules
  • Privileged-boundary auditing

Remote-site isolation

  • Remote sites isolated from TAHAI privileged services
  • WebUI payload validation requirements
  • No generic command execution
  • No secret-retrieval APIs

Local-data inventory

  • Browser profile and cache classification
  • Mission and evidence classification
  • Diagnostics, download, policy, and support-data classification
  • Explicit secret exclusions

Current blocker

The pinned Chromium checkout is unavailable.

The full checkout is not currently present at D:\dev\TAHAI-Chromium, preventing truthful final headed runtime proof and keeping Enterprise Gates G3, G4, and G5 open.

G3Open

Earlier runtime and integration proof remains incomplete.

G4Open

Final native headed Windows runtime evidence remains pending.

G5Open

Policy, security, privacy, diagnostics, and provenance must pass before packaging.
